Environmentally friendly fabrics, responsible and transparent factories, durable materials over time … These new yoga clothing brands advocate healthier values for the planet, without sacrificing comfort and style. Our selection.

The most holistic: Yoga Searcher

The story of Yoga Searcher began in 2013, when yoga teacher Bénédicte Peroz transformed a former Landes farm into Mecca of well-being hosting yoga retreats. A year later, the brand from Hossegor launched its own collection of eco-designed yoga clothes. Made in Portugal in OEKO-TEX certified workshops (a label that guarantees textiles free of toxic products for the body and the environment), all the pieces are made from materials of natural origin and recycled fibers. Yoga accessories (mats, bricks, cushions, straps …) and a line of natural beauty products complete the Yogi experience beyond the mat. The most: the pretty plant colors and patterns inspired by nature that change with the seasons.

The most transparent: Organic Basics

Originally, Organic Basics is a Copenhagen-based sustainable underwear brand, created by three Danish friends tired of constantly throwing away and buying lingerie that wears out too quickly. After the success of their underwear, the brand is now developing durable sportswear, made from natural, recycled and biodegradable materials. Their very soft stretch texture with a “second skin” effect and their simple and refined design are enough to seduce Yogis. Playing the game of transparency thoroughly, their website shares the figures of the company’s impact on the environment and opens the doors of their partner factories in Europe. Lately, the brand has even partnered with the Chooose organization to offset its carbon emissions by financing a wind farm in Koru in Turkey.

On sale at Printemps, at the Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris and at the L’Exception boutique in Paris. Online store: www.organicbasics.com

The most comfortable: Kind Yoga

Recently installed in the center of Paris, this new yoga studio also offers a range of clothes to accompany our asanas with softness and style. After ten years spent in the fashion and athletic clothing industry, the founder of the brand Kind Yoga, Nathalie Alsing Alauzen knows a thing or two about sportswear. In addition to being ultra light and comfortable, the pieces are conscientiously manufactured thanks to digital printing technology that reduces water consumption in textile production. Most : very committed to female entrepreneurship, the brand donates part of its profits to associations that support the professional initiatives of precarious women.

The most stylish: AZ / AR

In Iranian, “Azar” means “Fire”. It is also the third name of the founder of the brand, Victoire Flochel, a young entrepreneur who has just graduated from the Institut Français de la Mode. For two years, Victoire and modelers from sport and lingerie worked on this range of bras and leggings which associate comfort, ethics and aesthetics. All the clothes are made in a small factory in Portugal near Porto, where good humor and respect for the employees reign, led by the sexagenarian chief designer “Mrs. B”. Solid and technical, fabrics from Italy are OEKO-TEX certified (a label that guarantees textiles without products harmful to the body and the environment). Their sexy design and pretty colors give good looks and good vibes during Yoga classes. The plus: the brand donates 15% of the profits from its sales to the National Federation of CIDFF, which fights against domestic violence.

The most rock: YUJ Paris

A pioneer at the time, yoga teacher Hélène Duval launched the first French brand of clothing and accessories exclusively dedicated to yoga in 2014. Since its creation, YUJ Paris already compiled ethical and responsible commitments well ahead of its time: water dyeing, production system centered in Portugal to limit the carbon footprint, Oeko-tex certified fabrics (a label that guarantees textiles free of toxic products for the skin and the planet), packaging made from recycled plastic … to name a few. Recently, YUJ has obtained the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) label which certifies both that the products are recycled, but also the respect of the good environmental and social conditions of the company. The icing on the cake, the design of the clothes is just as desirable: colorful patterns, inspiring mantras, soft and comfortable fabrics … Enough to practice your yoga session serenely!
