We know that breast milk is the ideal food to feed babies. But this yellow gold contains other benefits and can be used to treat a multitude of ailments, both for babies and mothers.

Breast milk is a natural remedy that has been used for hundreds of years for its antiseptic, moisturizing and healing properties. Here are seven things to do with breast milk.

1.avoid crevices

When breastfeeding a child, we can suffer from various problems, such as cracks. And this can be very painful for the mother, especially since you cannot put anything in order to heal yourself. But the good news is that breast milk is the perfect remedy to prevent these nasty injuries. To do this, nothing could be simpler: all you need to do is run a little breast milk on your nipple at the end of each feeding, in order to hydrate and disinfect your breast.

2. Relieve burns

Breast milk has great healing properties. It can therefore help you treat small ailments, but also burns, up to the second degree.

3. Cooking desserts for baby

Many blogs offer recipes containing breast milk: yogurt, rice, breast milk semolina, cookies … You can cook almost everything with breast milk. Small tip: if your baby suffers from teething, you can relieve it by cooking delicious ice cream from your milk. The cold will calm the pain due to the teeth coming out. Find the trick here.

4. Make soap

Yes, you read correctly! By mixing 100g of Marseille soap shavings with 100ml of breast milk and two tablespoons of coconut oil that you gently let melt together, you can obtain a liquid to put in molds and let harden, in order to make soaps for baby’s toilet, but also for the whole family! Soft and natural, this blend is perfect for removing cradle cap and soothing eczema. To make these little milk soaps, preferably use milk that has been expressed and whose possible consumption date has passed.

5. Treat conjunctivitis or otitis

If your baby has an ear infection and / or conjunctivitis, there is no need to run to the pharmacy. Pour a drop or two of breast milk in each eye or in each infected ear. Rich in antiseptic properties, it is the ideal remedy for treating babies.

6. Caring for the cord

If hospitals and doctors change their minds (very) regularly regarding the care to be given to a baby’s umbilical cord, it is unanimously recognized that caring for the cord with breast milk allows it to dry more quickly.

7. Give it to a hospital

If you express your milk and have too much, don’t hesitate to donate it to one of the hospitals in your area with a neonatal unit. Babies born prematurely have a great need for breast milk to grow taller, and not all mothers are able to breastfeed their babies. It is a nice gesture that you will make.
