Big trend for summer 2020, raffia invests our wardrobe for a romantic and summery look. Discover our favorite selection spotted on the LuisaViaRoma website.
Summer will be raffia or it will not be! The leaves of the Raphia farinifera palm, native to Madagascar, can be seen on the macadam or on the beach. They give our style a little exoticism. The ideal ingredient to imagine going under the tropical sun while staying in France or Europe. Covid obliges. And for those who are not yet on vacation, raffia is the charming asset of our work outfits and reminds us that soon we too will be basking in the sun. Find our tips and our favorite pieces on the LuisaViaRoma website.
To the beach
At the water’s edge, raffia is easy to wear because it is in its element: light outfits and sun. We find it on our swimsuits like at We Wore What. Or on a hat or a beach bag. The material gives us a chic allure right out of the water. We love the hat from Saint Laurent or from Lack of color. Pieces that can be matched with long white dresses for a bohemian chic style. We also love the sandals from Malone Souliers and Loewe. Can be worn with denim shorts for a more relaxed and modern look like the it-girls Kendall Jenner and Olivia Palermo.
The exercise is a bit more perilous, but worth it. To make a work outfit less monotonous, we focus on raffia accessories. It is discreet but effective. For example, we choose earrings or a raffia headband. We prefer white pants, a skirt or a dress rather than black tuxedo pants. We do not hesitate to go out of colorful tops to energize the silhouette. The idea is to stock up on vitamin through our wardrobe. For earrings, we fall for models from Oscar de la Renta or Mercedes Salazar. For the headband, we like the one from Simone Rocha for a BCBG look. The ultimate? Match one of these accessories to a city bag but in raffia. For this, we opt for models from Salvatore Ferragamo or from Jacquemus.
