The coronavirus pandemic has forced many of Europe’s most influential fashion houses to rethink their traditional collection release schedules. And while some designers are reducing the number of shows a year, the Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana has decided on an unprecedented experiment.
Now the creative tandem of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana will release new collections every month. This will allow designers to release capsule collections in the see now, buy now format: new models will be available for purchase immediately after the show.
The shows themselves will be held online on the fashion house’s official website every month, starting in November. The designers have already presented the first capsule collection in this format on November 13: it was named Walking in the Street. The collection features jackets, sleeveless jackets, distressed jeans and other designs inspired by the street style of the 1990s.
