Auction house Christie’s announced the auction, which will take place in the Parisian Louvre and will be held from 1 to 15 December. The event is supported by the Drouot Auction House and luxury brands including Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, Louis Vuitton and Dior, and anyone can attend – the auction will be held online.
The auction was named “Bid for the Louvre” and its main purpose is to raise funds to support the museum’s project initiatives. There will be 24 lots on sale, including an exclusive Vacheron Constantin watch from the Les Cabinotiers collection: the new owner of the watch will be able to select any piece of art from the museum, which will then be reproduced in miniature on the dial.
The event participants will also have the opportunity to become owners of an Off-White handbag by Virgil Abloh, a personalized Louis Vuitton suitcase, a Louvre fragrance by Dior and a Cartier Panthère bracelet. In addition, the auction will include certificates for a private visit to the exhibition of the crown jewels of France, an individual tour of the Tuileries Gardens followed by a visit to the archives of Christian Dior, a culinary tour of the Louvre, which will conclude with a baking lesson with François Perret at the Ritz.
