Benefits of Castor Oil for Hair Care

Castor is an effective remedy for the hair and scalp. Its properties contribute to:

  • restoration of damaged hair along the entire length;
  • protection and softening of the scalp;
  • preventing dryness, treating seborrhea (dandruff);
  • protection against baldness;
  • saturation with useful acids and vitamin E;
  • strengthening of root follicles.

How to choose oil

Castor oil should be purchased at a pharmacy, and it is quite inexpensive – on average, from 20 to 30 rubles per 30 ml.

Raw materials for castor oil are castor bean seeds. The production method is cold pressed. However, in subsequent processing, it can be refined, but in this case it will lose a number of its useful qualities. Pharmacies can supply oil both for internal intake and for cosmetic purposes, so it is very important to read the labeling and instructions for use before buying.

The oil obtained by cold pressing without further processing, as well as various additives, is considered the best in quality.

It is better not to take cheap oil that is not sold in a pharmacy, it may turn out to be fake or suitable only for technical needs.

How to properly treat castor oil

You can treat your hair with undiluted castor oil. It is usually applied to the scalp (a few drops) and massaged into the skin. Then a cellophane cap is put on the head and a towel is wound.

To get the effect of castor oil, you need to follow the rules:

  • Castor oil is undesirable to use as a hair mask for the night. It will be more difficult to wash it off in the morning.
  • Before applying, you need to slightly warm it up, so it is better absorbed.
  • Egg yolk can be added to masks, which reduces fat and makes rinsing easier.
  • Apply pure castor oil to the scalp to strengthen hair, thicken and simpler, and get rid of dandruff. In the case of split ends treatment, they also need to be treated.

Castor oil without additives is great for hair loss and early baldness.

It is best to wash off castor oil with warm water. Hot stimulates the sebaceous glands, starting the process of fat secretion.

Apply the shampoo and spread it evenly (with a comb) over the entire length. Whisk into a lather and rinse. Then rub in again and this time rinse your head with cool water.
