Designer Tom Ford ditched the traditional show this season and closed New York Fashion Week with a digital presentation of the new collection. Tom Ford is one of those designers who know what a woman wants before her. The collection, which he showed on the runway back in February, was filled with sporty gray sweatshirts and do-it-yourself jeans – the kind of everyday glamor that all women would like to wear during quarantine.
For the Spring / Summer 2021 collection, Tom Ford decided to move away from “homey, cozy” clothes and create things that will make you smile. “The last thing I want to see is some serious clothes, he says. I think we all need an escape from everyday life now we want to smile. Everything that is happening now in our world does not make us smile at all. This is why I created inspirational clothing that will make you smile.
My new collection is not those clothes that will greatly affect the catwalk, but there are reasons for this – budget and moral responsibility. When I’m trying to just pay as many employees as possible and not make further layoffs or layoffs, it doesn’t make sense to spend a few million dollars on a show. I’d rather pay our employees. Besides, gathering an audience right now, I think, is dangerous and irresponsible, and should not be encouraged. “
The designer found inspiration in a documentary about fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez and 70s models. The result is a collection of a true extrovert with a lot of skin and very little pretense. The clothes feel incredibly light: for example, the shirts are tied at the waist, like at the Gucci spring 1995 show. Bright floral prints on bodycon dresses and blazers really make you smile. The main colors of the collection are bright purple, pink, green and dark blue, but the main place is taken by animal prints.
But the biggest travel back in time was the floral trousers. Once they were a hit in the 1999s, but now they again took their place on the fashion pedestal already in 2021 is a spectacular comeback.
