(ETX Studio) – The Dr. Martens brand pays tribute to American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat with a collection of shoes for adults and children showcasing some of his most iconic works. All offered at less than 200 euros from July 10, at some resellers and online at DrMartens.com.
At the end of June, a drawing by Jean-Michel Basquiat entitled “Untitled (Head)” sold for $ 15.2 million during a distance sale at Sotheby’s. In short, it is difficult for the general public to afford a work by the painter from Brooklyn without going into debt for the next decades … At least. Good news for amateurs, the Dr. Martens brand signs a collection in collaboration with Jean-Michel Basquiat with the highlighting of some of his most striking works.
The 1460 ankle boot and the 1461 3-eyelet shoe serve as a backdrop to this collection, which will allow everyone to show their taste for the painter who died at the age of 27. All offered in neo-expressionist colors and placed under the sign of the underground, a movement dear to Basquiat and Dr. Martens.
So which work by Jean-Michel Basquiat will make you crack? Dr. Martens’ Original ankle boot is adorned with the artwork “Beat Bop”, inspired by graffiti art, while the 1461 low shoe is dressed in the more colorful “Dustheads” paint. Children are not left out and will also be able to get started with art with a pair of 1460s bearing the image of the “Pez Dispenser” dinosaur.
Completed by a backpack, the collection will be available from July 10, starting at 90 euros for children, and 169 euros for adults.
