In the USSR, processed cheese appeared later – in 1934. Since 1960, processed cheese “Druzhba”, “Omichka”, “Volna” and “Yantar” have appeared on the tables of Soviet people.
This product is self-sufficient: he opened the package, took a slice of bread … However, the processed cheese turns out to be very tasty, quick and budget meals.
Let’s try to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner from this hearty product.
A quick breakfast of two processed cheese curds
On the eve of breakfast, put the cheese curds in the freezer for a short time, so that they “grab”, and transfer them to the plus compartment of the refrigerator. This will make it easier to prepare them in the morning.
In a bowl, rub cold cheese curds on a coarse grater, add one egg, two tablespoons of flour and a little chopped dill, parsley or green onions, salt quite a bit.
Grease the pan with oil and lay out portioned cheese pancakes, having previously molded them. Fry on both sides until golden brown, cover and leave for a couple of minutes over low heat.
Serve with sour cream and natural vegetables. A quick breakfast is ready.
Cream cheese soup for lunch
One of my family’s favorite soups. Brews quickly, eaten even faster. With a minimum of products, maximum pleasure.
The broth for the soup can be meat or chicken, it tastes better. You can make the soup in water, adding your favorite spices to taste.
As soon as the broth (2 l) boils, cut two large potatoes, three medium carrots on a coarse grater, chop two large cloves of garlic finely. I usually don’t add onions to soup, because chicken or meat is cooked with it, then the onions are thrown away.
Cut two processed cheese into cubes, finely chop a bunch of cilantro. Add greens and cheese to the soup at the very end, when the roots are already cooked. The greens should not lose color, they should only give the soup their unique aroma, and the curds should “bloom”, melt so that the soup turns white.
To increase the calorie content, you can add half a boiled egg or pieces of boiled chicken / meat from which the soup broth was cooked when serving on plates. However, even without these additives, cheese soup always goes with a bang.
Delicate roll of processed cheese for dinner
The dish is being prepared the day before, he needs to gain strength.
We release two processed cheese curds from packaging, put them in a plastic bag and heat them until soft in a microwave oven. Roll out the bag into a thin layer and put it in the refrigerator to cool.
At this time, we are preparing the filling for the roll. Boil four large hard-boiled eggs, separate the yolks from the whites and grate them on a fine grater.
Mix a tablespoon of mayonnaise with a tablespoon of sour cream, add a clove of garlic passed through a press. We divide this mass in half. In one part we mix the grated white, in the other – the yolk.
Slice 50-80 grams of ham or boiled sausage, smoked meat very thinly.
First, lay the yolks on a chilled layer of cheese and level them over the entire surface, then the same proteins and on top – meat pieces. Gently roll up, send it to the refrigerator overnight, wrapped in cling film.
Before dinner, free the roll from the film, sprinkle with finely chopped dill. Cut into portions, serve with any favorite sauce. It’s not just delicious, it’s also very beautiful.

Did you know that in 2004 the Karat processed cheese plant in Moscow announced a competition for the production of a draft monument to the Druzhba cheese curd, which had been produced by the plant for 40 years by that time.

This monument has an interesting history: it was first installed at the entrance of the Karat plant, three years later the main part of the Druzhba cheese was stolen, and four days later it was found in the neighborhood, next to another plant. In 2015, the monument “The Crow and the Fox” moved to the territory of the “Karat” plant, and on August 18, 2020 it was returned to its original original place.
