- Since sodium is an important element involved in maintaining homeostasis, its deficiency will disrupt the water-electrolyte balance.
Even from a brief description of the consequences of completely eliminating table salt, it becomes obvious that the body needs salt.
How much salt does the body need?
- According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, 5 g of table salt per day is enough for the body of a healthy adult to function normally. In childhood, the daily intake of sodium chloride is even lower.
Speaking about the daily intake of salt, one should take into account the entire amount of salt that enters the body with food, that is, all sodium chloride contained in foods.
How to fix the situation?
Like many other metabolic disorders, hyponatremia with a deficiency of sodium chloride can be corrected.
